Cybersecurity Specialist

Overview

The Cybersecurity Specialist will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the company’s systems, data, and operations. This hands-on role requires a proactive individual to manage security tools, assess risks, and respond to incidents, ensuring the organization’s assets are safeguarded in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Security Implementation: Deploy and maintain security controls aligned with organizational needs.
  • Tool Management: Operate and monitor SIEM, SOC, EDR, and MDM tools to secure cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Compliance Support: Assist in identifying compliance requirements and implementing necessary standards.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation steps.
  • Security Maintenance: Support the design and upkeep of security architecture for systems and networks.
  • Incident Handling: Investigate and respond to security incidents, executing containment and recovery actions.
  • Collaboration: Work with various departments to integrate security practices into daily operations.
  • Threat Awareness: Keep abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats and relevant industry developments.
  • Reporting: Provide updates on security incidents, risks, and tool performance to leadership.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Preferred certifications include CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or entry-level CISSP; professional certifications like CISSP or CISM are a plus.
  • 3-4 years of experience in information security or a related technical role.
  • Previous experience in the finance or payment industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency with SIEM, SOC, EDR, and MDM tools.
  • Experience securing cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Familiarity with Apple environments (e.g., macOS-based Mac Minis).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a fast-paced setting.

  • Understanding of security architecture, encryption, and secure practices.
  • Basic knowledge of fraud detection techniques is an asset.
  • Ability to handle pressure and adapt to evolving security needs.
